Hole 1 - Par 4

This opening hole requires precision off the tee. Best to drive down the right side of the fairway to give the best angle for approach. Right side of the green is the safest play where a par is a good start. Anything left slopes away from the green leaving a difficult up and down.

Hole 2 - Par 5

This opening hole requires precision off the tee. Best to drive down the right side of the fairway to give the best angle for approach. Right side of the green is the safest play where a par is a good start. Anything left slopes away from the green leaving a difficult up and down.

Hole 3 - Par 3

Christy O’Connor Jnr. introduced a touch of gloriously challenging savagery early in the front nine… The third 219-yard par 3 from the back tee… The shot is across a valley to a well trapped green that straddles the brow of the hill which has a glorious backdrop of Lough Ree and the heavily wooded Hare Island Don’t be distracted by this breath-taking backdrop. Deep bunkers await the shot that comes up short. Hit an extra club to reach the green. Once on the green be happy with two putts. Enjoy the experience.

Hole 4 - Par 3 Uphill

A Challenging Par that demands a long and accurate drive to be in with a chance of reaching the green in two. A change in elevation means you lose sight of the lower half of the flagstick so distance control is key as anything short can be sucked down the bank.

Hole 5 - Par 3

Measureing 197 Yards.A downhill par 3 with spectacular views from the tee box. Those views get better as you reach the green and be drawn closer to Lough Ree. With a green protected by bunkers front, right and left leaves distance control the key factor off the tee.

Hole 6 - Par 5

Measuring 559 Yards from the tiger tees. Excellent Par 5 with danger on the left and woodland on the right. A slight dog-leg. A hole that once again captures the stunning view of Lough Ree. One has the option to shorten the hole by driving across the out of bounds on the left. Not a shot for the faint hearted.

Hole 7 - Par 4 Uphill

Measuring 410 yards. A dramatic elevation change combined with fluctuating wind means the approach tends to play a bit longer so more club will provide safe play. Once on the green one captures stunning views of Lough Ree.

Hole 8 - Par 4

A stunning par 4 measuring 432 yards. Drive to a landing area and move down towards the lake as Christy O’Connor Jnr. seeking even more visual thrills, created very nicely a moulded lake beside this green. Play safe to the centre of the fairway to reach the corner of the dogleg. The second shot is downhill to a green that is guarded short and right with bunkers and a lake to the left and long. Don’t be on the left with the second. This hole may look like a lamb….. but it can bite

Hole 9 - Par 4

Challenging Uphill Par 4 measuring 407 yards. The change in elevation will require more club to guarantee reaching the green which is well protected by bunkers.

Hole 10 - Par 5

Measuring 513 Yards. One of the best Par 5’s on the course. Deep Fairway bunkers are purposively placed at the turn of the fairway to capture wayward tee shots. The second shot requires accuracy as a tunnel fairway narrows lined with trees either side and fairway bunkers

Hole 11 - Par 3

A wonderfully framed Par 3. A green guarded by bunkers both front and right.

Hole 12 - Par 3

Dog Leg left. A controlled tee shot straight down and not necessarily the driver will leave a good angle to approach this well guarded green. There is the temptation to cut the left side corner and reduce the approach distance but with mature trees now in place is it worth the risk.

Hole 13 - Par 4

352 yards. A short but challenging hole that required precision and strategy from the tee shot to the green. The fairway slopes left to right so playing to the left side is the safest play and will open up the green for the approach shot. The green is slightly elevated so extra club is required and with severe slopes on the green, it is best to leave your shot below the hole.

Hole 14 - Par 4

A masterpiece par 4 which plunges down verdant slopes to the shores of Killinure Bay. It can play from 453. The advice is to at least take the time to climb up to the tiny platform Championship tee in the trees, drink in that view and see can you resist the urge to drive a golf ball out towards the bay and watch it drop, drop, drop to the fairway below now protected either side by tall mature woodland. This hole requires intelligent play from the offset. There’s no room off the tee for error so select your club wisely and get yourself into position for your second shot

Hole 15 - Par 4

Short Par 4 measuring 309 yards. The long hitters may be tempted to go for the green but a missed tee shot left could be swallowed up by the long fescue grass that lines the left hand side of the fairway. A miss left leaves a tricky up and down from the deep rough. A pronounced ridge across the centre of the green makes hitting the same level as the Flag of most importance.

Hole 16 - Par 4

Stunning Par 4 played from an elevated tee. Precision off the tee is required as a bunker is strategically placed to the to the right of the fairway and water to the left are both within landing distance of the long drives. Played into the prevailing wind leaves this a long par 4. A tricky green surrounded by steep run offs makes this a challenge on the final stretch.

Hole 17 - Par 3

Great Golf. But that is only the prelude for the symphony of water reeds, rocks and lovely turf that constitutes the 17TH signature hole. It is a true test of golf. Whether challenged from the tiger tee to be found away out in the lake itself with 185 yards of perdition between it and the green. This is adrenaline time. Be Brave. Hit enough club and a large green awaits. The wind will come into play and this tee shot requires commitment all the way.

Hole 18 - Par 4

The fairway whines up to a dog leg left towards the green which is nestled beneath the ampti threatre mounding. Take care with your club selection to avoid the obstacles of trees and gorse left side of the fairway. If you have the ability, then take plenty of club to the right side of the bend in the fairway as this will open up the hole and takes out much of the trouble. If you can navigate your way onto the green safely then it is a good opportunity for a final birdie.
